How to Support Us
With such an exciting and energetic programme we often find it’s not just young lads in Guildford who want to get involved with the group but often the parents do also! Many a time we hear comments such as ‘I wish I was a lad in years 5 – 13 as I’d love to be involved in the group!’. Well, the good news is you can be!
As a non-profit charity, we rely on a wide team of supporters and volunteers to enable and equip us for the work that we do in Guildford. Below are just a few ways in which you might want to consider being a part of the group.
Financially
Urban Saints Guildford has relied on people’s kind donations to keep itself running for over 115 years … isn’t that incredible? We’re so grateful for this ongoing support as it is vital to the ministry we feel called to. As a group, we have no ‘paid’ leaders, so all donations we receive get ploughed back into the group and help cover many of the essentials for running the group. With an extensive camping programme, a large hall to maintain, and plenty of energetic lads to entertain you can imagine the ongoing demands.

If you’re a taxpayer you can add Gift Aid as being a registered charity we can claim back the tax on your gift, which is a massive blessing and extremely helpful to our work.
‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’

Parents and Supporters’ Prayer Group
Every couple of months a faithful group of supporters (not just parents) meet together to chat about Urban Saints Guildford and to pray for us. From our perspective this role is massively important as we believe that prayer is the powerhouse behind everything we do, as without God’s help we can assure you we wouldn’t get far with a group of 100 young lads each week!
“It’s a great chance to meet with other parents and supporters, find out a bit more about what’s going on in the group, and an inspirational time realising the dedication of the leaders to God’s work amongst the lads”
If you don’t think you can commit to the supporters’ group then no worries you can either dip in and out when it suits you or alternatively, sign up for the newsletter that gets sent out every so often. Get in touch with our prayer group leaders by clicking the link below.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Leadership
The group is run week-in-week-out by a team of about 20 – 25 volunteers who generously give up their time to help out. Although, as you can probably imagine, we could always do with more help.
The group is an all-male group, so the leadership team is generally made up of male leaders as we are based on a principal or relational ministry. We tend to say that leaders must be male, be a Christian and be in support of ‘reaching lads to engage them in effective Christian living’.
Therefore if you know of anyone 18+ with lots of enthusiasm and energy, and with an interest in youth work then do get in touch with us. We offer training and mentoring to new leaders and can be flexible as to how much or how little you might get involved in.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
